Caves de Donnas 2021 Aosta DOC Nebbiolo ‘Barmet’ Valle d’Aosta

Bright and intensely aromatic Nebbiolo from the alpine region of Valle d’Aosta, the Donnas Barmet is lean, pretty and destined for your “everyday glass”. Produced from a local biotype of Nebbiolo called Picotendro, the Barmet’s polished red fruits simply burst out of the glass!

The Cave de Donnas is a benchmark cooperative in the northwestern corner of Italy. Located near the Swiss border, they boast 20 growers across only 24 hectar of vines. All members are local farmers working tiny plots scattered across terraced vineyards at the base of the Alps. Created in 1971, they work entirely by hand on ancient terraces built during the Roman empire, many of which must be accessed by light rail.  The Barmet is their entry-level Nebbiolo and it is a restrained and aromatic example of Picotendro, a biotype of Nebbiolo exclusively from this region.
