A more recent project in the historic village of San Gimignano, Il Colombaio di Santa Chiara is a former parish purchased and revitalized by Mario Logi and his son Alessio. They have transformed this dilapidated property into a celebrated Inn and winery in the early 2000’s when Alessio was well into his studies at Oenology school. Leveraging his youth as a farmer, Mario cultivates a bio-diverse farm and vineyards with organic certification. This is their entry-level Vernaccia, among the most refreshing on the market today. The Logi’s prefer short macerations and using stainless steel tanks, focusing on pure varietal expression and preserving acidity in the warm Tuscan climate. Softly spoken in the glass and palate, this is a great all-around white.
